I’m Phyllis Shaw, MS, MSW, LCSWA, and I serve as an Intensive In-Home (IIH) Team Lead and Outpatient Therapist at Greater Vision Counseling & Consulting. I enjoy helping children, adolescents, and families work through challenges, recognize their strengths, and find healthier ways to move forward.

I bring over 20 years of experience serving children and families across North Carolina and Georgia, with a professional background in community-based services, care management, behavioral health, and family support. I also have prior experience as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), which contributes to my whole-person approach to care.

When I work with clients and families, I try to understand not only what is happening, but also what may be contributing to the challenges they are experiencing. I believe people have strengths within them, even during difficult seasons, and part of my role is helping them recognize and use those strengths.

My approach is compassionate, practical, and strengths-based. I work alongside clients to develop coping skills, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and make changes that are realistic for their lives. I want the people I work with to know that therapy is not about being judged or having someone tell them what to do. It is an opportunity to talk openly, gain insight, learn new skills, and work toward meaningful change.

My approach has been shaped by both years of hands-on experience and continued professional education. I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Fayetteville State University, a Master of Science (MS) from Capella University, and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Methodist University.
