My name is Colleen Merkins, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving children, adolescents, and adults in Moore County. Originally from Florida, I spent more than twenty years living around the world as part of a military family before settling in North Carolina. I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in social work, and my professional background includes work in sexual assault advocacy, developmental disabilities, and school social work.
I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, and low self-esteem. I am especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ youth and their families and strive to create a space where clients feel safe, affirmed, and understood.
I am trained in EMDR and provide trauma-informed care for individuals with histories of abuse, neglect, and other adverse experiences. I integrate cognitive-behavioral, supportive, and solution-focused approaches to help clients build resilience, recognize their strengths, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
