Angela Locklear is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. She grew up in Charlotte North Carolina and moved to Hoke County in 1999, (briefly moved/ PCS to Florida in 2011 and returned to Hoke County in 2014). She’s been a military dependent since 1995 and a mother of two. She earned her Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and her Dual Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Social Work at the University of West Florida.
Angela’s graduate-level internship experience includes outpatient behavioral health completing assessments and providing individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults with substance use, mental health, and intellectual/developmental disorders.
Angela enjoys working with clients of all ages, with an emphasis on mood disorders, substance use, and other psychiatric conditions. She is passionate about building cooperative professional relationships to help empower clients to develop positive self-esteem and healthy coping skills. She is very compassionate about working in the military and their families.
Angela utilizes a variety of evidence-based approaches depending on each client's needs and preferences. She frequently uses cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, Play Therapy, and Seeking Safety modalities in her practice. Angela provides a safe, confidential, and empowering space for all her clients.
